Who to watch for
In the first week of the Eagles 2018 NFL Preseason, we watched for rookies like tight end Dallas Goedert, cornerback Avonte Maddox, defensive end Josh Sweat, guard and tackle Matt Pryor, tackle Jordan Mailata. And new players including defensive end Michael Bennett, tight end Richard Rodgers, linebacker Corey Nelson, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, and punter Cameron Johnston. But in the second week of Eagles 2018 preseason, we will get to see the wide receiver corps play, which includes newly acquired deep-threat Mike Wallace. We will also get to see more of cornerback Sidney Jones. Eagles also signed former Penn State star quarterback Christian Hackenberg, which is something we should keep an eye on. And finally, after 193 days, we will get to see Super Bowl MVP quarterback Nick Foles play – he is expected to play most if not all of the first half, likewise for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
It’s pretty much half a Super Bowl rematch. So my predictions…Eagles have the lead by just a couple of points at the end of the first half. In the second half, with backups, Eagles offensive depth isn’t very attractive, as the Patriots. But on the defensive side of the ball, Patriots have better linebackers and safeties. While Eagles have slightly better cornerbacks and defensive lineman. Although as some know, Patriots backup quarterback is fairly good against the pressure. So because of that reason, I see the Patriots winning this game by no more than seven points.
