Eagles players request intense practices in preparation for playoffs

You usually don’t see this very often. Despite the team’s troublesome and struggles the past couple of games without QB Carson Wentz, the team has seemed worked hard at practice, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Well apparently, in preparation for the tough playoffs without MVP Candidate Carson Wentz, Eagles players requested a practice with pads this week and next week.

Zach Ertz gave the media a taste of the padded practice on Thursday. He stated, “It was intense, for sure,” “Most intense practice we’ve had probably in a long time. Full pads, 1’s against the 1’s. Since the season started, we’d only have a couple plays here and there during Wednesday and Thursday practices, 1’s against the 1’s whereas today the whole practice was. We did a lot of situation work, trying to get those situations with Nick (Foles), give him the opportunity to go through them with us. I thought it was a great practice. It was really intense. A lot of trash talking, as you would expect when the guys are heated like that.”

Now on top of that, the players requested even more intense practices this week.  In some cases, this is bittersweet, bitter in fear of a key player getting injured during practice, and sweet that Eagles are trying to win the NFC Conference. Hopefully Doug won’t go too hard on his players right before the playoffs.
