Recently, Philadelphia Eagles’ newly acquired cornerback from the Carolina Panthers was arrested after being found passed out inside a vehicle blocking a highway, with the possession of a gun, as well as being combative with Philadelphia Police.
After the Philadelphia-native’s arrest, Eagles will look to find a new young-talented replacement for Patrick Robinson after Worley’s arrest, whom was a potential replacement candidate. They will preferably look to select a new defensive back in the upcoming 2018 Draft.
The draft includes talented players such as Denzel Ward, Josh Jackson, Mike Hughes, Isaiah Oliver, and Jaire Alexander.
Most likely, Denzel Ward whom is the top graded corner will be taken prior to the Eagles’ 32nd pick, so they may have to fall for Josh Jackson or Mike Hughes, whom have the 2nd and 3rd best draft grades. Note: Eagles CB Daryl Worley was never guaranteed to make the team’s roster 53-man in the first place.
Josh Jackson, age 22, is a Corinth, Texas native that went to University of Iowa. Last college season, Jackson registered a whopping eight interceptions to his stats, including two pick-sixes. He also had an attractive 48 combined tackles. Jackson entered the 2018 NFL Draft after just three years of playing for Iowa to take his career to the next level.
Mike Hughes on the other hand, is a 21-year-old New Bern, North Carolina native whom played for the UCF Knights last college season. In his last college year, he had four interceptions, and 49 combined tackles, which isn’t as attractive as Josh Jackson.
The draft also has Duke Dawson whom 1) is a talented slot corner like Patrick Robinson 2) low expectations due to projected 2nd or 3rd round select 3) fast, scored a 4.46 40-yard-dash time, which is the exact same as Robinson’s 40-time 4) Even weighs more than Robinson, seem more efficient overall 5) had four picks last college season, including a pick-six. As well 34 combined tackles.
So chances are, if Denzel Ward is taken, Eagles will stick with cornerback Josh Jackson, or if they want to draft a slot corner like Robinson, they’ll probably go with Duke Dawson in the 2nd or 3rd round if they get one of those round picks back. My personal pick if I were Howie Roseman, would be Duke Dawson because 1) Josh Jackson isn’t very fast compared to Dawson 2) he’s a slot-corner like Robinson 3) I wouldn’t take Hughes because he is isn’t very big nor fast. So I’m left with Dawson.
If the Eagles were to draft one out of the three corners, comment below who you think they’d take.
