The Philadelphia Eagles have traded wide receiver Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. The deal reportedly took place “a few days ago” and sees the Eagles exchange Smith for cornerback Daryl Worley.
After spending the 2017 season with the Eagles, Torrey Smith was widely expected to be a salary cap victim prior to the team’s next season.
Worley, age 23, was drafted by the Panthers in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL Draft and is expected to provide depth to the Eagles secondary.
The #Eagles were planning to move on from WR Torrey Smith… but instead trade him to the #Panthers for CB Daryl Worley, sources said. The deal was done a few days ago, giving Philly cap savings and some CB depth.
