Disregard all the articles stating that Philadelphia Eagles’ tight end Brent Celek is going to retire this offseason. Because it looks like he plans on playing again next season.
This does cause some be-wilderness in some people. There are many reasons for him to retire, and some reasons for him to stay.
Obviously it’s nice to retire as a Super Bowl champion, but at the same time, finishing your career with less than 200 yards, just 13 receptions, and a touchdown aren’t the best stats. But what about the Eagles cap room situation? I agree, ditching 33-year-old Brent Celek, and drafting or signing a young, cheap, and talented tight end would be a much better option for the Eagles.
Brent Celek said that he has no plans to retire. “Yeah I wanna play,” the Eagles TE said via text message, confirming a @caplannfl report.
