After two troubling weeks for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2018 NFL Preseason, they look to take on the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. Last time the Eagles played the Browns, franchise quarterback Carson Wentz scored his first career touchdown in the 2016 NFL Season.
Despite Wentz not playing, Nick Foles will get another opportunity to throw his first touchdown this preseason. Last week against the New England Patriots, Nick Foles went just three for nine, and 44 yards in one quarter. Eagles third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld seemed to have fixed things up when he got the chance.
The game will take place on Thursday night, August 23rd, at 8:00 PM EST in Cleveland, Ohio at FirstEnergy Stadium.
How to watch
The Browns-Eagles matchup will be available to watch nationally, on FOX.
Who to watch for
The last two weeks we watched for rookies including tight end Dallas Goedert and cornerback Avonte Maddox. While I mention Maddox, it’s also worth mentioning that Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said that the Eagles nickelback position will be closely looked at and decided after the watching the performance of cornerback Sidney Jones, Maddox, and De’Vante Bausby on Thursday. Another name to watch for is Super Bowl MVP quarterback, Nick Foles. Last week against the Patriots, Foles was taken out of the game early with a minor shoulder injury. He returned to practice a couple days after, and again looks to play the whole first half on Thursday.
You’d probably like to imagine the Super Bowl champions defeating a team that won just one game in the past two years – but this year, that isn’t the case. This offseason, Browns cleaned up a lot of positions. They immensely upgraded at quarterback, with Tyrod Taylor and rookie Baker Mayfield. Wide receiver, with Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, as well as Josh Gordon coming off of a suspension. Running back, with Carlos Hyde and Nick Chubb. And cornerback, with Damarious Randall and rookie Denzel Ward. All that aside, I see the Browns taking this game by just a few points. Nevertheless, hopefully that is not the case and the Eagles can win at least one or two games this preseason.Follow @EaglesFeast
